About the Role
Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Package Manager to join our Major Projects team working on the iconic Old Oak Common development in London. This £1 billion HS2 station will become the UK’s best-connected rail station, featuring six underground platforms and up to eight platforms on the adjacent Great Western Main Line. The station will provide high-speed rail services to the Midlands, central London, Scotland, the North, and direct connections to three major airports, alongside passenger and retail facilities designed to deliver an exceptional customer experience.
As a Package Manager, you will lead the delivery of the Structural Steel package, overseeing subcontractor deliverables, monitoring performance, and ensuring health, safety, and environmental standards are maintained. You will manage daily interface activities, coordinate construction sequencing strategies, and analyse scope to identify gaps. Your responsibilities will include preparing procurement documentation, collaborating with designers, and driving value engineering initiatives to improve design efficiency and buildability.
Key duties include leading the Structural Steel works for the Conventional Station, managing a team of two Assistant Package Managers, supporting contract management, tracking subcontractor deliverables and certifications, handling documentation approvals, liaising with the wider BBVS team, monitoring subcontractor performance, resolving escalated issues, and accurately reporting progress and site activities.
