About the Role
The Pensions Manager will effectively manage Pension Fund finance policies, strategies, activities, and service improvements required to update and deliver the approved business plans. This includes the production of the Pension Fund accounts and provision of other financial services and advice in line with corporate requirements. The role involves creating and maintaining effective relationships with the Pension Fund Committee, Pension Fund Board, actuary, advisers, custodian, and managers. You will update and deliver pension fund financial strategies, policies, and contracts in accordance with prevailing regulations and council policy. Additionally, you will participate fully in the London CIV (London Councils) to increase investment opportunities and returns while minimising costs.
Reference to pensions in this role relates specifically to the Local Government and Pensions Scheme (LGPS). The post-holder has financial responsibility for finance activities related to the LGPS, supervises the production of Pension Fund accounts and the Annual Report in line with regulation and Council policy, manages related budgets, and provides budget information as required.
Experience
Extensive Local Government Finance experience in the production of financial accounts is essential. Candidates with experience producing LGPS Pension Fund accounts, supporting committees, managing staff, and overseeing large contracts are preferred.

Qualifications
Relevant professional qualifications in finance or pensions management are desirable but not explicitly stated. A strong track record in pension fund financial management and Local Government finance is critical.
