About the Role
Are you passionate about inclusive education and making a difference in the lives of children and young people requiring Assistive Technology support including Augmentative Alternative Communication? We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Advisory Teacher to join our Physical and Sensory Support Team within the SEND Education Support Service (SENDESS). This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping inclusive practices across early years settings, schools, and colleges in Havering.
You will provide expert advice, coaching, and training to schools and SENCOs on inclusive practices and Havering’s SEND procedures. You will support children and young people with physical disabilities and/or complex SEND directly in educational settings, contribute to Education, Health and Care (EHC) needs assessments, and promote person-centred planning ensuring the voice of the child is central to all support. Collaboration with professionals across education, health, and social care to deliver cohesive, family-centred support is essential. You will also lead on the use of Assistive Technology (AT) and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) tools.
Experience
Proven experience supporting children with physical disabilities, complex needs, and using AAC/AT to enhance communication and access to education for learning.
About you
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with further qualifications or CPD in SEND. Strong understanding of the Social Model of Disability and inclusive education. Excellent communication and partnership-working skills. A solution-focused, empathetic, and proactive approach.
Qualifications
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential, along with additional qualifications or continuing professional development in SEND.
