About the Role
London Borough of Havering is seeking a talented and experienced Public Health Principal to join its Public Health Team, focusing on the “Live Well and Age Well” (adults) life stages. As a Public Health Principal, you will plan, manage and lead a portfolio of complex public health programmes, applying expert and advanced knowledge to influence policy and practice across a diverse work area. You will provide guidance and advice to Council and NHS colleagues, elected members, partners and relevant boards to support decision making based on sound public health evidence.

You will be a key member of the Public Health Senior Management Team, leading efforts to enhance the capacity and capability of the Public Health service. This role includes line management responsibilities and leading the professional development of Public Health team members.

The London Borough of Havering offers a hybrid working pattern, combining office and home working depending on needs and productivity. Havering is the third largest London borough, known for its distinct communities, extensive green belt areas and excellent transport links to central London, Essex and beyond. The Public Health Team is friendly, energetic and passionate about protecting and improving the health and wellbeing of the population.

Experience
Substantial experience working at a senior level in public health, with a proven track record of leading and delivering multiple complex public health programmes simultaneously. Experience engaging and collaborating with a broad range of stakeholders including Council, NHS colleagues, elected members and community partners.

Ability to apply specialist public health knowledge to influence policy and practice effectively.

Qualifications
Master’s degree in Public Health, Health Policy or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
