About the Role
As a Placements Officer within the Placements Team, you will be responsible for commissioning a wide range of placements for children and young people, including emergency, short- and long-term foster care placements, residential placements, and semi-independent placements. You will cover duty tasks such as responding to payment queries and other placement-related issues. Working closely with a committed team of placements officers, commissioners, social workers, and the leaving care team, you will support young people’s transitions into independent living. Collaboration and respectful partnership with colleagues across the department and external providers is essential to deliver high-quality, well-matched placements for children looked after and accommodation for care leavers.

Enfield Council’s Children’s Placement Team is seeking a confident, imaginative, and dynamic individual to join a diverse and vibrant team focused on improving outcomes for children, young people, and families across Enfield. The role is based in a newly designed, high-tech multiagency office environment that supports smart working and offers bespoke areas for service users. The office is located in a lively area surrounded by small businesses, bars, restaurants, a bustling high street, and a shopping centre.

You will demonstrate enthusiasm and tenacity in working with a demanding market to secure suitable placements. Creativity and innovation in commissioning placements are highly valued. This role offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the lives of vulnerable children and young people in Enfield.

Enfield Council is committed to creating an environment where staff can deliver high-quality social work and continue their professional development. We encourage a culture that puts customers at the heart of everything we do by empowering people to work collaboratively, be open, honest, respectful, responsible, and continuously learn and improve.
