About the Role
Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Planner to join our outstanding Major Projects team working on the Old Oak Common development in London – the largest construction project in the UK. HS2’s new c. £1 billion Old Oak Common station will become the UK’s best-connected rail station once completed. Our Balfour Beatty VINCI SYTRA joint venture is responsible for the final design, construction, and commissioning of the station in Northwest London. Upon completion, the station will feature six underground platforms and up to eight platforms on the adjacent Great Western Main Line. Old Oak Common will provide high-speed rail services to the Midlands, central London, Scotland, and the North, as well as direct services to three major airports. Incorporating passenger and retail facilities, the new station will deliver an exceptional customer experience for passengers and visitors alike.
Key responsibilities include weekly and monthly programme updates and reporting, managing contractor and subcontract programmes, preparation and submission of documents and reports, analysis and optimisation of labour resource and histograms, tracking key design interfaces, monitoring construction progress, KPIs, and re-programming as required. You will prepare compensation events programmes and narratives, attend and lead package review meetings, produce and present progress reports, track progress assurance, assist with procurement planning related to design requirements, and present the project programme philosophy and strategy.

Experience
- Engineering HNC or equivalent
- Advanced Primavera user with 3+ years’ experience
- Proficient in MS Office suite
- Understanding and experience of gated design/assurance processes such as GRIP and RIBA
- Minimum 3 years planning experience in Design/Assurance
- Experience of NEC contract management
- Excellent presentation skills at all levels
- Client and subcontract engagement experience
- Skilled in critical/multiple path and float analysis using forward/backward-pass planning techniques
- Ability to summarise schedules to POAPs and Milestones for reporting at various levels
About you
Detail-oriented planner with strong communication and organisational skills. Able to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders and manage complex project schedules effectively. Proactive and adaptable to changing project demands.
Qualifications
Engineering HNC or equivalent qualification required. Advanced knowledge of Primavera and planning methodologies essential.
