About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Plumber (NVQ Level 3) with a full UK driving licence to join our Non-Housing Repairs Team. You will carry out a variety of plumbing and multi-trade repairs across a range of council-managed buildings, working independently while supported by an experienced team. Your responsibilities will include delivering high-quality plumbing and multi-trade repairs, managing your own workload, responding to urgent jobs, using digital tools to record work and order materials, identifying follow-on repairs, and keeping colleagues updated. You will also support the Building Services Engineer and lead the team in their absence. Join a friendly, committed team that keeps essential council services running smoothly across Islington.

Our Offer
We provide up to 31 days leave per year, increasing to 36 days after five years of local government service. Flexible working arrangements support a healthy work-life balance. We offer learning and development opportunities, competitive pay with a commitment to the London Living Wage minimum, an excellent local government pension scheme, Cycle to Work scheme, discounted gym memberships, and local discounts from restaurants, shops, and health and beauty therapists. Priority will be given to those at risk of redundancy within Islington Council who meet essential criteria.

Workforce Equality, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
We are dedicated to creating an inclusive and equitable workforce where everyone is treated with dignity and respect. We maintain a zero-tolerance approach to unlawful discrimination, harassment, or victimisation and actively promote equality, equity, diversity, and inclusion through transparent policies and practices. We work closely with Colleague Forums, Trade Unions, and Corporate Management Team allies to monitor, evaluate, and improve our workplace culture. Our CARE values (collaborative, ambitious, resourceful, and empowering) guide us in fostering a truly inclusive environment.

Pre-Employment Checks
Employment offers are subject to successful completion of pre-employment checks including proof of address, right to work in the UK, satisfactory references, occupational health clearance, evidence of professional qualifications, and DBS checks where applicable.

Safeguarding
We are committed to safeguarding children, young people, and vulnerable adults. Some posts require a Disclosure and Barring Service check in line with relevant legislation.

Disability Confident Scheme
We operate a guaranteed interview scheme for candidates with disabilities who meet the minimum criteria and provide support for reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process and career.
