About the Role
Working at HM Treasury puts you at the heart of government, making a difference to the UK economy and ultimately to people’s lives across the UK. This is a stretching and fast-paced role covering a diverse range of policy issues in insurance markets. Your responsibilities will include leading the response to acute and emerging insurance issues, promoting financial inclusion, and supporting the growth of the mutuals sector. You will engage with a wide range of stakeholders including insurers, brokers, trade associations, regulators, government departments, international colleagues, and ministers.
The role involves developing policy responses to challenges in insurance markets, often at pace, and presenting options to ministers. You will lead on life and protection insurance policy issues, such as social care insurance and income protection insurance, and take forward policy to double the size of the mutuals sector, including leading on a Law Commission review of Friendly Societies legislation.
Significant engagement and relationship-building with government departments, regulators, and the insurance sector is required, including delivering difficult messages when necessary. You will also produce high-quality briefings for senior officials and ministers and lead on relevant correspondence.
HM Treasury is a dynamic, forward-looking economics and finance ministry with a strong organisational strategy. The department offers a friendly, inclusive, and sociable workplace with opportunities to learn and develop your expertise in financial services policy.
