About the Role
Join HM Treasury and be part of a fast-paced, dynamic environment where you will have the opportunity to advise Ministers on decisions that directly impact the UK’s prosperity. As a Financial Stability Analyst, you will work within the Treasury’s Financial Stability Group, supporting Ministers and senior officials by delivering original analysis on the biggest challenges facing the UK financial system. These roles are suitable for recent graduates or experienced candidates seeking a new challenge.
The first position focuses on risks related to non-bank financial institutions (NBFI) such as insurance companies, pension funds, hedge funds, and private market asset managers. You will assess emerging risks in these sectors and their impact on UK financial stability and economic growth, using extensive data sources and collaborating with regulatory authorities and industry partners.
The second position addresses global and cross-cutting risks including climate change, AI developments, geopolitical events, and other topical trends. You will support efforts to enhance financial system preparedness for geopolitical risks by scoping projects and building relationships across Government and with the Bank of England.
Both roles involve presenting analysis to senior audiences, maintaining strong relationships across government and regulators, contributing to policy development, and providing live market monitoring. You will benefit from a supportive, diverse, and inclusive team environment with access to networks such as the Women in Financial Stability Network, generous leave entitlements, and flexible working arrangements.
Experience
No specific work experience is required for these entry-level roles. Relevant experience in economics or financial markets is advantageous but not essential.
About you
You should have strong analytical skills with the ability to scope and direct original analysis, draw conclusions from complex or incomplete information, and communicate effectively to non-expert audiences. You will be a collaborative team player able to build positive working relationships and use your understanding of wider economic and financial trends to inform your work.
Qualifications
Applicants should hold an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in economics, central banking, finance, or a related field, or have relevant experience in economics or financial markets. Evidence of your qualification will be required if invited to interview.
