As Lead Data Engineer within the National Infrastructure and Service Transformation Authority (NISTA), you will oversee the data architecture that governs how we process data and the infrastructure supporting our applications. You will work closely with data scientists, infrastructure engineers, and subject matter experts to ensure data is relevant, well-structured, and processed effectively to meet the needs of decision makers.
The NISTA Data & Insight Team combines data scientists, engineers, analysts and digital professionals who collaborate to turn high-value project data into insights and tools that support government decision-making on major projects. Your work will influence how major programmes are planned, delivered and improved across government.
You will lead the development and maintenance of cloud-based data infrastructure, implement secure change practices, and promote data engineering best practices across the organisation. This role offers a supportive, inclusive and collaborative environment where you can grow your skills and make a real impact on government delivery.
Experience
- Proven experience leading, developing and implementing data engineering processes that support organisational objectives.
- Strong technical skills in data architecture, cloud infrastructure, and Infrastructure as Code.
- Experience working collaboratively with data scientists, engineers and non-technical stakeholders to translate complex data needs into clear, documented structures.
- Ability to implement secure, well-governed change practices and maintain CI/CD pipelines.

Qualifications
- Relevant technical qualifications or demonstrable equivalent experience in data engineering, cloud architecture or related fields.
