This recruitment covers multiple Policy Adviser roles within the Financial Services Group, including:
1) Policy Adviser – Financial Services Strategy
Join the Strategy unit to support the Chancellor’s priorities for the financial services sector. Responsibilities include coordinating the annual Mansion House speech, developing policy to support regional growth in financial services, managing cross-cutting sector priorities, and contributing to wider Chancellor events and departmental policy coordination.
2) Policy Adviser – Payments
Work within the Payments unit to support the government’s strategy for the UK payments sector. This includes providing high-quality advice on payments policy, managing parliamentary correspondence, building relationships with regulators and industry, and monitoring domestic and international payments developments.
3) Policy Adviser – Retail Banking
Join the retail banking and fintech unit to lead policy on banks and fintech firms providing everyday consumer services. Focus areas include access to banking, basic bank accounts, and engagement with ministers, regulators, and industry stakeholders.
4) Policy Adviser – Fintech
Work on challenger banks and fintech innovation, supporting policy on AI in financial services, regulatory innovation, and the fintech ecosystem. Responsibilities include monitoring developments, advising ministers, managing parliamentary correspondence, and supporting UK Fintech Week engagement.
These roles do not require previous financial services policy experience but seek candidates with enthusiasm and interest in the sector. You will contribute positively to team culture and support the delivery of government priorities across financial services.
Experience
Previous financial services policy or sector experience is not required. Applications will be assessed primarily on evidence of the key behaviours and competencies outlined below.

Additional Information
Applicants must be eligible to work in the UK. Visa sponsorship is not available for these roles. Successful candidates will be subject to security vetting including a Counter-Terrorist Check and baseline personnel security standards. Candidates should have lived in the UK for at least 3 of the last 5 years to facilitate vetting.
