About the Role

As a Principal Fire Engineer, you’ll typically be working on a variety of projects at once, from a university in Scotland to a high-rise residential tower in London, including many international projects. Your goal will be to enable innovative architectural design without compromising fire safety.

You will review design information, liaise with other WSP disciplines such as Facades, Acoustics, and Structures, present designs to local authorities and the Fire Service, and advise the design team on changes to increase building safety. You will be supported through training on software packages, fire standards, team briefings, and client updates. WSP fosters a collaborative environment with regular social events.

In addition to your day-to-day role, we will assist you in achieving professional registration via IFE and other organisations. Our bespoke development programme, supported by senior leadership, offers professional skills and specialist technical training tailored to help you work towards chartered status or equivalent qualifications. This includes training in technical report writing, team-specific technical skills, project management (introductory and advanced), influential communications, commercial concepts, collaborative team challenges, and continuous improvement.

Experience
Proven experience within the fire engineering consulting industry is essential.

About you
You are passionate about fire engineering and safety, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and comfortable collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. You are motivated to grow professionally and contribute positively to innovative design solutions.

Qualifications
You will hold a BSc (BEng) or MSc (MEng) degree in Fire, Structural, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
