About the Role
FTSE Russell, part of the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG), is evolving its operational ecosystem by transitioning from a complex current operating model built on multiple business-as-usual (BAU) systems toward a more unified, scalable target-state platform experience called Phoenix. We are seeking a Principal Product Designer to lead the user experience across this ecosystem, creating seamless, efficient, end-to-end workflows for internal users performing specialised, multi-step tasks. Your role will focus on designing system-wide usability that bridges current BAU tools with emerging future-state capabilities, avoiding siloed, single-screen designs.

You will develop coherent interaction patterns, behaviours, and navigation structures that work across diverse tools, contributing to and evolving a design system used across internal operational tools. Collaboration with product managers, engineers, and operations teams will be key to delivering clear, evidence-based design recommendations that balance technical feasibility with user value.

Utilising modern tooling such as Figma and AI, you will accelerate design and product development by automating routine tasks, generating rapid concept variations, and improving quality and consistency through AI-supported checks. This role offers the opportunity to shape the UX vision for a major platform transformation at a globally recognised financial data and analytics company.

Requirements

Experience
Proven experience designing complex internal or enterprise tools where workflows span multiple systems. Experience contributing to or creating design systems and delivering UX that bridges current-state and next-generation platforms. Background working in operationally critical, data-heavy environments is highly desirable. Demonstrated ability to simplify multi-step workflows while respecting business rules and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

About you
You are a systems thinker who sees the whole user experience beyond individual screens. You thrive in dynamic environments where tools and processes are evolving. Collaborative, curious, pragmatic, and outcome-focused, you advocate for users while balancing business and technical constraints. You communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and are comfortable guiding teams through ambiguity toward actionable outcomes.

Qualifications
Strong core UX and design skills including interaction design, UI design, workflow orchestration, and information architecture for interconnected tools and data-heavy interfaces. Proficiency in Figma (components, variants, auto-layout, prototyping, design systems). Experience applying AI tools to accelerate design work, including rapid concept generation, layout exploration, content population, quality checks, and design-system compliance. Understanding of how design systems align with engineering implementation and how AI can reduce handoff friction through documentation and natural-language UI drafting.
