About the Role
FTSE Russell, part of London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG), is evolving its operational ecosystem by transitioning from a complex current operating model built on multiple business-as-usual (BAU) systems toward a more unified, scalable target-state platform experience called Phoenix. We are seeking a Principal Product Designer to lead the user experience across this ecosystem, creating seamless, efficient, end-to-end workflows that span BAU tools and emerging future-state capabilities. This role focuses on internal users performing specialised, multi-step workflows and aims to avoid siloed, single-screen designs in favour of system-wide usability.

You will develop coherent interaction patterns, behaviours, and navigation structures that work across diverse tools, promote reusable and consistent design, and contribute to evolving a design system used across internal operational tools. Collaborating closely with product managers, engineers, and operations teams, you will provide clear, evidence-based design recommendations that balance technical feasibility with user value. You will also leverage modern tooling such as Figma and AI to accelerate design delivery, improve quality and consistency, and enable faster design-to-development handoff.

Experience
Experience designing complex internal or enterprise tools where workflows span multiple systems. Proven ability to create or contribute to design systems and deliver UX that bridges current-state and next-generation platforms. Experience working in operationally critical, data-heavy environments and partnering with cross-functional teams. Skilled in simplifying multi-step workflows while respecting business rules and communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Proficient in Figma as a primary design tool and experienced in applying AI tools to accelerate design and delivery lifecycles.
