About the Role
Join Enfield Council’s Planning Service at an exciting time of growth and regeneration. This 2.5 year fixed term contract, running until September 2028, offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the borough’s ambitious Local Plan and major development projects including council-led housing at Meridian Water. You will be part of a dynamic Urban Design and Heritage team, providing proactive design advice through Planning Performance Agreements, pre-application consultations, and planning applications. Working collaboratively with colleagues across the Planning Service, Enfield’s Design Review Panel, developers, agents, and local communities, you will help deliver positive placemaking outcomes.
As the Council progresses with its new Local Plan and growth strategies, you will play a key role in shaping significant development proposals, both council-led and private sector. This role offers the chance to influence regeneration, housing delivery, and corporate projects, driving design excellence and best practice within a progressive and supportive team culture.

Experience
Proven experience in urban design, preferably within a local government or planning context. Demonstrable ability to provide design advice on complex development proposals and to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.

Qualifications
Relevant professional qualifications in urban design, planning, architecture, or a related discipline are expected. Membership of a relevant professional body is desirable.
