About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Standards, Practice and Partnerships team as a Professional Lead Adviser for Standards and Inclusion. You will primarily work as a school improvement partner for a range of schools, developing your skills in providing evidence-based advice and support. Your role will focus on building constructive, professional relationships with school leaders, positioning yourself as a trusted partner in their improvement journey.
As a Professional Lead, you will offer both encouragement and uncompromising external challenge, using evidence to evaluate school performance against the current Ofsted framework. Through professional dialogue and close analysis of a wide range of evidence, you will highlight strengths and key areas for development. Where additional expertise or intervention is required, you will facilitate access to support and resources to help schools improve outcomes for pupils.
You will be part of the Lifelong Learning, Skills & Employment division, which provides statutory and community services aimed at enabling residents to benefit from lifelong learning opportunities for personal growth, wellbeing, and economic success. As a member of the extended Hounslow Leadership Team, you will provide expert guidance and leadership to set high standards for practice and service delivery, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards.
Your role involves proactive collaboration with Council services and partners, advising on best practice and offering strategic insights to support efficient service delivery and critical initiatives. You will also train and mentor staff, contribute to succession planning, and promote a positive, inclusive culture that champions staff development and continuous improvement.
The Standards, Practice and Partnership team works collaboratively with primary and secondary schools to ensure high-quality teaching and learning, effective planning and resourcing of the education system, and the creation of an inclusive environment where all children and young people can thrive. This role reports to the Principal Adviser for Primary and Secondary Education.
Experience
- Successful senior leadership experience within a school or school improvement organisation
- Proven ability to build strong partnerships, maintain relationships, and co-produce solutions across diverse stakeholders
- Skilled in using school performance data, intelligence, and evidence to identify trends, create insights, and inform decision making
- Understanding of current Ofsted frameworks and recent experience with the English national curriculum for primary and secondary schools

- Experience or interest in working with primary, secondary, post-16, and special schools, with particular interest in secondary, post-16, and special school sectors
Qualifications
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Enhanced DBS clearance is essential for this role
