About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Multi Agency Child Protection Team (MACPT) as a Team Manager. You will lead and manage the MACPT, ensuring children subject to statutory child protection enquiries and investigations receive a high-quality, timely, and effective multi-agency response that safeguards them and improves outcomes for them and their families. You will ensure the team operates in line with the Families First Partnership programme, providing seamless help, support, and protection, strong multi-agency decision-making, clear interfaces with Family Help and the front door, and effective oversight of statutory child protection work.

You will provide strong practice leadership, management oversight, and reflective supervision to six Lead Child Protection Practitioners. Establishing effective working relationships with multi-agency practitioners including health and education navigators and police liaison roles will be key. You will promote and govern excellent child protection practice, ensuring timely strategy discussions, effective section 47 enquiries, robust planning and review, purposeful direct work with children and families, and clear risk management in partnership with key agencies.

You will build and sustain effective strategic and operational partnerships with police, health, education, legal services, and other relevant agencies to ensure coordinated, evidence-informed child protection responses focused on the child’s lived experience. You will ensure high standards of performance, quality assurance, recording, information sharing, and compliance, contributing to service development, inspection readiness, and continuous improvement across Family Help and Protection.

Supporting the Head of Service, you will manage a complex, multi-disciplinary team operating within statutory and local safeguarding frameworks, ensuring services are delivered within budget and provide value for money.

The MACPT is a specialist team of experienced practitioners from different agencies coordinating child protection decision making. The team convenes all strategy discussions and completes section 47 investigations, working alongside social care, education, health, police, and community partners to achieve a holistic understanding of risk and need. This integrated approach enables swift identification of concerns and ensures children and families receive the right support at the earliest opportunity.
