About the Role
Mace combines construction expertise with consultancy to unlock potential in every person or project and redefine the boundaries of ambition. As a Project Manager in Education, you will manage projects to achieve agreed outcomes on time, within budget and quality standards. You will provide day-to-day leadership, aligning multidisciplinary teams to deliver objectives and KPIs while managing risks, change processes, and internal fee targets. Mace has a significant track record in the education sector, working with schools, colleges, local authorities, and central government to deliver nationally recognised 'landmarks for learning' that are sustainable, flexible, and future-proof.
As the leading consultant for the Department for Education (DfE), Mace delivers projects across principal capital programmes including the Schools Rebuilding Programme (SRP), free schools, special educational needs, and further education colleges. You will lead high-performing teams on a wide portfolio of work covering new builds, refurbishments, remodelling, and carbon reduction schemes.
Mace provides integrated multidisciplinary services including design, cost, information management, sustainability, and health and safety in-house, offering clients a seamless end-to-end service with a single point of accountability. Your role will be client-facing, involving development of client strategy, initial design, contractor appointment, and contract management. Projects typically incorporate BIM, off-site construction, soft landings, social value creation, and people and skills development, with a focus on achieving Net Zero Carbon (NZC) in operation and sometimes in construction.
You will be responsible for applying technical expertise in health and safety regulations, fostering inclusivity and team wellbeing, ensuring robust quality systems and service excellence, managing project delivery from inception to completion, overseeing budgets, risks and mitigations, coordinating design, consultants and stakeholders collaboratively, maintaining accurate plans, records and handover documentation, driving innovation and best practice across teams, and upholding Mace values to support sustainable business outcomes.
Experience
Proven project management experience with strong commercial and financial acumen. Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing complex education sector projects is highly desirable.
About you

Alignment with Mace values including safety, integrity, client focus, and creating opportunity.
Qualifications
