About the Role
Millennium Hotel and Conference Centre Gloucester London is seeking a Purchasing Assistant to control and monitor food and beverage stocks. You will be responsible for controlling the ordering, acceptance, and distribution of all stock items. This role involves close collaboration with management within both the Food & Beverage and non Food & Beverage teams across two properties. You will ensure all Millennium & Copthorne (M&C) procedures and targets are consistently met, maintaining high standards of stock control and operational efficiency.

The Millennium Gloucester Hotel London Kensington is a prestigious 4-star deluxe hotel located in the heart of Kensington, just a minute’s walk from Gloucester Road Underground station, providing excellent access throughout London. The hotel features 610 spacious guest rooms and a variety of dining options including Humphrey’s Café & Bar, South West 7, and the Bombay Brasserie. The hotel also houses the Millennium Conference Centre, offering 26 versatile function rooms with a total of 1,600m2 of event space, accommodating up to 600 delegates. The conservatory event space caters for up to 300 guests and includes palm trees, a piano, an exclusive bar area, and a dance floor.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and control the day-to-day operation of the goods receiving area and team.
- Manage the daily operation of the Cellar and Dry Stores, including raising orders, issuing stock, and receiving deliveries.
- Enter stock transfers into MPS on a daily basis.
- Liaise with suppliers regarding incorrect or non-delivery of goods.
- Ensure all supplier credits are obtained and recorded promptly.
- Respond to invoice-related queries from Head Office.
- Ensure correct storage of crates, gas cylinders, kegs, bottles, and arrange regular collections.
- Maintain a tidy and orderly filing system.
- Report maintenance requirements to the Engineering department and inform the Cost Controller.
- Conduct regular stock level checks in Food & Beverage outlets.

Experience
Previous experience in stock control or purchasing within the hospitality industry is desirable but not essential. A keen eye for detail and strong organizational skills are important.

You are proactive, reliable, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Strong communication skills and the ability to liaise with multiple departments and suppliers are essential. You have a methodical approach to work and are committed to maintaining high standards of stock management.

Qualifications
No formal qualifications are required; however, experience with stock management systems and Microsoft Office is advantageous.
