About the Role
Newham Borough Council is seeking to appoint an additional Qualified Teacher of the Visually Impaired (QTVI) to join our established and highly regarded Vision Support Team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a professional, motivated, and friendly group of specialists supporting children and young people with vision loss across the borough. The Vision Support Team is part of the wider Specialist Education Support Service, which supports children and young people with a range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). This creates regular opportunities for joint working with specialist teachers in Autism and Cognition and Learning. Our collaborative approach enables continuous professional development and knowledge-sharing across a broad range of additional needs. We are committed to improving outcomes for children and young people with SEND, working alongside schools and settings to promote inclusive practice and lifelong learning.

Experience
Experience working with children and young people with vision loss or SEND is desirable. Experience within a specialist education support service or similar setting is advantageous.

You should be able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and demonstrate a passion for inclusive education and lifelong learning.

Qualifications
You must hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and the Qualified Teacher of the Visually Impaired (QTVI) qualification. Unqualified candidates may be considered with 1 SEN allowance; qualified candidates with QTVI receive 2 SEN allowance.
