About the Role
A Quantity Surveyor has experience in managing all costs relating to building and civil engineering projects. You will support senior members of the commercial team in delivering varied commercial duties and be responsible for procuring and managing our supply chain. Your focus will be to minimise project costs and enhance value for money while maintaining required standards and quality for our customers. Typically, you will be chartered or in the final stages of achieving professional membership of RICS, ICES or CIOB and act as a peer role model for less experienced commercial team members. In this role, you will work across both London and Sizewell (Suffolk).
Key Responsibilities
Management of subcontract packages from order completion through monthly valuations on site and day-to-day management of variations. Providing detailed trade forecasts each month for input into the overall project forecast. Handling internal activities such as purchase order placement, payment processing and liaising with the client’s surveyor team for valuations and variations. Adhering to the Company’s GMCEs, BMS and other governance orders, systematically checking data. Measuring, recording and valuing work unsupervised in accordance with appropriate rules and procedures. Interpreting specifications and drawings, building estimates from first principles including net and gross estimates. Preparing Bills of Quantities and Schedules of Rates. Reviewing weekly, monthly and section programmes of works and planning commercial activities accordingly. Understanding delay and disruption programmes and using the company’s ERP system. Collating cost and value information, preparing cost reconciliation statements, specifying procurement requirements, recording and documenting information including registration of interest. Undertaking customer and stakeholder management within your area of responsibility. Supporting development, recruitment and retention activities, maintaining a Personal Development Plan and supporting the development of others. Working towards professional membership from RICS, ICES or CIOB.

Experience
Ideally BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience. Rail or Civil Engineering industry experience is preferred. Previous experience using Oracle R12 would be beneficial.

Qualifications
