About the Role
We are recruiting for a Safeguarding Practice and Policy Lead to join our Practice Development team in Adult Social Care. If you are passionate about keeping vulnerable adults safe, committed to achieving positive outcomes, are a qualified social worker and bring significant safeguarding experience, we would love to hear from you.
In this role, you will lead on safeguarding adult quality, improvement, practice and policy across adult social care and in partnership with relevant stakeholders. You will lead on the quality assurance of safeguarding practice, working closely with key partners. You will collaborate with the senior management team in planning and decision making regarding the development of departmental safeguarding, training, policies and procedures, and develop strategies to support and challenge performance and practice alongside the principal social worker.
You will represent the local authority at serious case reviews, domestic homicide reviews and safeguarding adult reviews, leading on the implementation of learning across the service. You will constructively and professionally challenge existing safeguarding practice and behaviour across the safeguarding partnership, identifying new and better ways of working and delivering services to help the Council achieve its objectives.

Experience
- Extensive experience as both an Enquiry Officer and Safeguarding Adults Manager, including multi-agency working in relation to the safeguarding of adults.
- Management experience in Adult Social Care.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to persuade and influence across a diverse, complex work system.
- Legal literacy regarding safeguarding adults through court of protection and inherent jurisdiction.
- Knowledge of current research and models of good practice in safeguarding adults from abuse and neglect.
- Understanding of the interface between crime, community safety and adult safeguarding.
- Knowledge of risk management in practice.
- Understanding the needs of vulnerable adults experiencing a range of complex disabilities.
About You
You are a qualified social worker registered with Social Work England, passionate about safeguarding vulnerable adults and committed to achieving positive outcomes. You are confident in challenging existing safeguarding practices constructively and professionally, and you thrive working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders to improve services and outcomes.
Qualifications
- Registered Social Worker with Social Work England.
- Significant safeguarding experience within adult social care.
