About the Role
As SEND Team Leader, you will play a vital role in ensuring high-quality service delivery to children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Reporting to the SEND Operations Manager, you will oversee operational functions, lead a team of dedicated professionals, and maintain compliance with statutory frameworks including the Children and Families Act 2014 and the SEND Code of Practice. Key responsibilities include managing and supporting a team of Senior SEN Case Officers, Case Officers, and Assistants to ensure effective case management; overseeing Education, Health and Care (EHC) Needs Assessments and annual review processes with reflective and qualitative practices; ensuring children’s and young people’s voices inform service delivery and foster aspirational outcomes; developing strong partnerships with schools and education providers using relational approaches to drive positive experiences; handling complex cases and providing legally robust advice; making strategic funding decisions for EHC Plans in line with governance; leading on compliance, quality assurance, and continuous improvement systems; and representing the service in meetings with local area partners while advising on strategic developments. This role has up to five direct reports and overall responsibility for a team of up to ten members.

Experience
- Extensive experience in SEND at a management level
- Strong knowledge and proven application of SEND legislation
- Experience managing complex cases with child-centred, outcome-focused solutions
- Proven ability to develop and manage compliance, quality assurance, and continuous improvement systems
- Experience working collaboratively with diverse partners to inform and improve service delivery
- Excellent leadership skills with a track record of supporting and developing teams to achieve high standards
- Ability to present and advocate for the service in various forums
