About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Pensions Investment Department within Resources at London Borough of Merton. We are seeking a Senior Accountant to manage the financial accounting, reporting, and control of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) Pension Fund. This role ensures compliance with the Local Government Pension Scheme Regulations, CIPFA Code of Practice, IFRS, and all relevant statutory and regulatory requirements.
The postholder will be responsible for the preparation of the Pension Fund Annual Report and Accounts, investment accounting, financial reporting, treasury transactions, audit liaison, and providing high-quality financial information to support the Pension Committee and Local Pension Board. The role also involves liaison with the LGPS Pool (London CIV) as required.
The Pension Fund is in excess of £1 billion and represents the largest budget within the Council. This role offers significant autonomy and the opportunity to work within a dedicated team managing key aspects of this substantial fund.
Experience
Qualified or part-qualified Accountant with experience in financial accounting and reporting, preferably within pension funds or public sector finance. Strong understanding of Local Government Pension Scheme Regulations, CIPFA Code of Practice, and IFRS is essential.

Qualifications
