About the Role
We are seeking a Class 2F Registered Building Inspector to join our Building Control team at the London Borough of Bromley. Bromley is London’s largest borough, featuring a mix of urban and suburban areas, extensive Green Belt and open countryside, 47 conservation areas, and over 400 listed buildings. Our Building Control Service is undergoing a program of improvements to enhance customer and public confidence and deliver an optimum level of service.

Key improvements include migrating to a more efficient IT system to streamline applications and developing trainee Class 1 Registered Building Inspectors.

The Senior Building Control Surveyor will manage day-to-day plan checking and site inspections within an assigned area. This role involves collaboration with other Council services to support improvements to existing buildings such as leisure centres, libraries, and housing projects.

The service offers flexible remote working; however, daily site inspections within the borough and participation in out-of-hours standby for dangerous structures are required.

Experience
Must be a Class 2F Registered Building Inspector, ideally working towards Class 3. Experience in building control project management for residential and commercial developments is essential, along with experience managing dangerous structures.

Proven ability to supervise Class 1 Registered Building Inspectors during plan checking and site inspection stages.

Strong problem-solving skills and excellent communication abilities to explain technical terms and regulations clearly to the public and professionals.

Qualifications
