The London Borough of Bromley is seeking a motivated and skilled Lawyer - Contracts and Procurement to join our established and forward-thinking Commercial Legal Team. Your Role
- Manage a varied caseload of contracts and procurement matters, increasing in complexity
- Provide clear and practical legal advice to officers and elected members
- Draft, review and negotiate contracts and tender documentation
- Advise on procurement law, contract disputes, data protection and FOI matters
- Support commercial, regeneration and cross-council projects
- Contribute to effective service delivery including case management and time recording systems
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders across the organisation
- Support modernisation including digital initiatives and continuous improvement

Experience
- Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or FCILEx with a current practising certificate
- Experience advising on contracts and procurement law
- Ability to manage a busy and varied workload, prioritising effectively
- Good drafting skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain legal issues clearly and pragmatically
- A collaborative and proactive approach with a commitment to learning and development
- Interest in local government and public sector work
- Experience within local government or the public sector is desirable but not essential
