About the Role
This is an individual contributor role responsible for the design, development, and delivery of high-quality software solutions using C++ and Java within a defined product, platform, or client solution area. The role emphasizes hands-on engineering, strong ownership of medium-to-large technical components, and adherence to established architectural and engineering standards. You will collaborate closely with senior engineers, architects, product managers, and delivery teams to implement technical changes that improve business and client outcomes. While not an architect or people manager, the role requires strong technical judgment, mentoring of junior engineers, and meaningful contribution to solution design and delivery excellence.
You will design, develop, and maintain C++ and Java applications and services, delivering robust, performant, and maintainable solutions. Responsibilities include implementing technical changes and enhancements to improve platform stability, scalability, and client outcomes; collaborating with product owners and business partners to translate requirements into effective technical designs; building solution-level extensions and component enhancements in line with LSEG architectural principles and coding standards; and escalating architectural concerns or technical risks as appropriate.
Additionally, you will take technical ownership of key components or subsystems, ensuring high code quality, strong test coverage, and operational readiness. You will contribute to solution and component design to ensure maintainable, extensible, and well-documented codebases across both C++ and Java stacks. Supporting full lifecycle delivery including estimation, design, development, testing, release, and production support is expected. You will diagnose and resolve complex issues across development, QA, and production environments, including performance and concurrency-related challenges.
Active participation in code reviews, design discussions, and technical forums is essential, as is providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers, particularly in C++/Java best practices and design patterns. You will ensure adherence to SDLC standards, engineering controls, and quality metrics, contributing to healthy team-level engineering baselines.
