About the Role
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Drainage Design Engineer to join our Major Projects team based out of our offices at Canary Wharf. In this role, you will lead the technical delivery, strategy, and team management for complex water and civil infrastructure projects. You will help manage the technical function of the business, ensuring we provide our customers with the best and safest solutions by offering innovative technical support and advice. You will plan, manage, prioritise, and report design workloads to the Technical Director, assist in achieving best technical governance, and develop technical excellence within your field.

Key responsibilities include designing all aspects of drainage for highways, rail, and urban development projects; preparing DMRB design reports and technical specifications for stormwater drainage; managing project delivery including concept studies, detailed designs, and construction drawings; ensuring projects meet budget, schedule, and technical standards while complying with QA, CDM, sustainability, and HSE requirements; mentoring and managing early-career professionals; supporting design strategy and workload management; verifying work and providing expert technical support; preparing design risk assessments and communicating residual risks; supporting tender processes and work-winning activities; promoting BIM development within design processes; maintaining strong relationships with technical consultants and suppliers; and ensuring continuous personal technical expertise and knowledge.

You will exercise designer obligations under the Construction (Design and Management) regulations and contribute to a positive working environment within the team.

Experience
- Minimum of 5 years professional experience in drainage engineering.
- Strong academic background in Engineering (drainage) with experience working within UK standards.
- Proven experience completing flood risk assessments, surface water drainage strategies, and detailed drainage designs using InfoDrainage, MicroDrainage, or Causeway Flow.
- Good working knowledge of AutoCAD-2D and Civil 3D.
- Extensive up-to-date technical knowledge of drainage engineering.
- Experience leading technical aspects of work-winning bids and tender submissions.

Qualifications
