About the Role
The purpose of this role is to support the Lead Estimator and Head of Estimating on the Sizewell C project to ensure a consistent estimating approach aligned with client requirements. You will work closely with the Lead Estimator or independently to produce estimating documentation that meets both internal and external assurance standards. This role involves developing estimates from first principles related to the Sizewell C work packages and mentoring junior team members. Key responsibilities include stakeholder management, presenting and negotiating prices transparently with senior leaders and external partners, and ensuring estimates comply with project policies and procedures.
Key activities include reviewing drawings and specifications to prepare accurate cost sheets for materials, labour, and equipment; interrogating design options and value engineering solutions; recording assumptions, risks, and opportunities; liaising with project teams and supply chain to understand methodologies; developing labour, plant, material, and subcontract pricing using Candy Estimating Software; preparing bills of quantities with Cost X software; and tracking estimate changes as inputs mature.

Experience
- Infrastructure main contractor background, ideally within civil engineering
- Commercial or operational experience considered an advantage
- Proficient in Excel and similar software
- Client-facing and excellent communication skills
- Experience with Candy Estimating Software (desirable)
- Experience with RIB Cost X Quantification & Estimating Software (desirable)
- Familiarity with AACE estimating principles and maturity (desirable)
- Mobile and flexible

- Relevant industry chartership such as ICE, CICES, RICS, CIOB or equivalent (desirable)
