About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Mental Health Rehabilitation Worker to cover the night shift in our Lewisham-based service, which provides specialist intensive rehabilitation for individuals requiring enhanced interventions beyond commissioned community services. Residents live with us for up to nine months following discharge from acute wards, helping to avoid inpatient rehabilitation admissions. Our goal is to support residents to transition into less supported accommodation, fostering independence and community integration.

As the main point of contact during the night shift, you will lead by example, providing specialist support to empower both the team and residents. You will ensure resident safety, wellbeing, and progress towards recovery goals by managing and creating a safe, empowering environment. Building relationships with relevant partners and key individuals is essential to support residents’ journeys.

Your responsibilities will include creating support plans, planning and facilitating activities, delivering one-to-one therapeutic support, acting as a key worker, and helping residents develop skills and confidence to manage their mental health and wellbeing. You will contribute to support plans, reflective learning, and team development while maintaining a safe and positive living environment through effective housing management and day-to-day support.

The night shift is crucial in maintaining the high-quality care provided during the day, ensuring a safe, respectful, and responsive environment. Night staff are expected to remain awake, alert, and actively engaged throughout their shift; sleeping on duty is strictly prohibited and may result in disciplinary action, including dismissal.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead point of contact for the night shift, supporting team and residents with specific needs and queries
- Support night shifts across two residential properties
- Provide tailored, person-centred support promoting recovery, rehabilitation, and independence
- Help residents build skills and confidence to progress towards independent or supported living
- Monitor residents’ wellbeing with regular checks and respond to incidents or emergencies
- Foster a positive, empowering, and recovery-focused environment
- Maintain accurate records and handovers to ensure effective communication between shifts
- Ensure a calm, safe, and supportive environment that promotes positive engagement and progress
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and management to deliver high-quality care
- Remain alert and monitor CCTV throughout the shift
- Complete routine night duties and tasks handed over by day shift or service manager
- Key worker duties including inductions, support plans, reviews, risk assessments, welfare checks, record updates, managing access and unauthorized visitors, following missing person protocols, and escalating issues to on-call when needed
- Health & Safety duties including property checks, reporting maintenance issues, keeping communal areas clean and safe, and completing required reports (AINMs and others)

Requirements

Experience
- Previous experience working with people with multiple complex needs including mental health, substance misuse, alcohol, and challenging behaviours
- Experience creating co-produced support plans, key working, and care planning with appropriate interventions
- Experience in a similar senior role, sharing skills, knowledge, and supporting others
- Ability to act as a specialist point of contact for the team and residents
- IT proficiency including ability to learn new software and basic Microsoft applications
- Understanding of housing and social needs of people with multiple and complex needs

About You
