About the Role
The Psychology Services Group is recruiting Senior Psychologists to join the expanding National Security Division (NSD) Psychology team within the Directorate of Security (DoS). The NSD, part of the National Probation Service, manages the most high-risk, complex, and high-profile offenders in the community across five geographical units: Wales/South West, Midlands, North, London/Kent Surrey Sussex, and East/South Central. Each unit currently has a Senior Psychologist, and this role aims to expand coverage nationally, particularly in the busiest areas.

The post holder will be based primarily within the NSD London, Kent Surrey Sussex region but may also provide support to other regions and national projects as required. Key responsibilities include developing relationships with internal and external stakeholders to promote Psychology Services, providing clinical guidance and support for managing individuals in this cohort, supporting multi-disciplinary teams through MAPPA, core groups, and case consultations, and undertaking direct risk assessments and interventions for the most complex cases.

Additional duties include providing supervision and support to the NSD multi-disciplinary team involved in release planning and ongoing management of high-risk/high-harm cases, undertaking line management and supervision of trainee psychologists, and contributing to wider Psychology Services Group activities. Routine travel across NSD areas is expected. Due to the sensitive nature of the role, candidates must hold a minimum of SC security clearance.

Requirements

Experience
Applicants should have a minimum of 18 months post-registration experience as a psychologist. To act as a coordinating (clinical) supervisor for trainees on recognised training routes, two years post-registration experience is required at the point of taking up the post.

About you
You will be an experienced psychologist with strong clinical skills, able to provide expert guidance and supervision within a multi-disciplinary team. You should be confident in managing complex, high-risk cases and able to build effective relationships with a range of stakeholders. Flexibility to travel routinely across NSD regions and contribute to national projects is essential. You must demonstrate behaviours including making effective decisions, leadership, communicating and influencing, working together, developing self and others, and delivering at pace.

Qualifications
You must be a registered psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and eligible to act as a clinical supervisor. Written and spoken English proficiency is required. Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain SC security clearance.
