About the Role
As a Social Worker within Family Help, you will build positive, supportive, and respectful relationships with families to support children in need of help or protection. Wherever possible, you will assist families to raise their children safely within their family network by supporting and augmenting their support systems. When this is not possible, you will explore and implement alternative plans to ensure children grow up in safe, nurturing, and happy homes that achieve long-term permanence. This role requires a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults. Please note that appointment to this post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). Interviews are scheduled for 15 September 2026.

Requirements

Experience
Relevant experience in social work or family support is desirable to effectively build relationships and support children and families in need.

About you
You will be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults, with the ability to work collaboratively with families and professionals. You should be resilient, empathetic, and motivated to make a positive difference in the lives of children and families. The role may be available as a development opportunity through secondment for existing Council employees.

Qualifications
Professional social work qualification and registration with the relevant regulatory body are required. Appointment is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
