About the Role
You will be responsible for managing a high caseload varying in complexity from complaint to resolution. Working as part of a friendly team, you will provide professional expertise on planning enforcement matters. Your duties will include investigating reported breaches of planning control from receipt to conclusion, resolving issues through negotiation, serving formal notices, preparing appeal cases, ensuring compliance, and undertaking project work as required. You will assist colleagues within the team and wider service, reporting directly to the Planning Enforcement Manager on all related matters. This role requires being office based at least two days per week. The post is a permanent position within the Development Management Service.
Experience
Relevant technical experience and knowledge in planning enforcement is essential. Demonstrable Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in the field is required.
About you
You will be an effective communicator, both written and verbal, able to engage confidently with the public, Members, and other stakeholders. Strong decision-making skills are essential to resolve reported breaches of planning control efficiently and fairly.
Qualifications
It is desirable to hold a first degree or equivalent qualification allowing entry onto an RTPI accredited postgraduate degree. Eligibility for Membership of RTPI or RICS (Planning & Development) is preferred.
