About the Role
Are you a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist looking to develop and apply your skills with secondary mainstream school pupils? This is an excellent opportunity to manage a varied and complex caseload of speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) autonomously across multiple secondary schools in Merton.

You will work within the Merton Speech & Language Therapy Service, part of the Special Educational Needs and Disability Integrated Service (SENDIS). This multidisciplinary, award-winning team delivers statutory work, Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) assessments, and a unique buy-back service providing therapy, training, support, and advice across Merton schools.

The role requires specialist knowledge and experience in good practice models for working with children and young people with speech, language and communication needs, including group and individual interventions as well as whole school approaches. You will manage your own caseload, work autonomously, and contribute to the supervision and development of newly qualified therapists, assistants, and students. Collaboration with pupils, parents, teachers, school staff, managers, other agencies, and SENDIS colleagues is essential.

Benefits include clinical supervision by a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, peer support groups, varied learning opportunities, mileage or public transport costs between schools, training and professional fees aligned with CPD, manageable caseload sizes, opportunities to design bespoke interventions, a friendly and supportive neurodiversity-affirming environment, hybrid working options, laptop and telephone provision, access to reward and discount schemes, comprehensive induction and support, cycle to work scheme, and wellbeing support.

We encourage early applications and welcome HCPC registered Speech and Language Therapists with experience working with children and young people aged 10 years and older.
