Leveraging its brands, technology, and capabilities, Tripadvisor connects a global audience with partners through rich content, travel guidance, and two-sided marketplaces for experiences, accommodations, restaurants, and other travel categories. The Tripadvisor Experiences Engineering team, distributed across Europe, is responsible for the platform, mobile apps, and all supporting infrastructure. This team runs systems that help operators build their businesses and enable third parties to utilize Tripadvisor’s inventory, while providing tools that empower customer service teams to deliver world-class service internationally.

We are seeking a Staff/Principal Product Engineer who combines deep engineering craft with strong product instincts. This role involves working across the stack—mobile, web, backend—focusing on the highest-leverage problems each quarter. You will partner with product, design, and data teams to identify valuable work and ship end-to-end solutions. While deep expertise in the mobile app ecosystem is essential, this is a generalist role requiring breadth across multiple domains.

Key responsibilities include identifying, scoping, and shipping impactful changes across mobile, web, services, and data layers; architecting robust systems that perform reliably at scale; leading technical design reviews with a focus on product impact and operational cost; driving operational maturity in release management, observability, incident response, and performance monitoring; collaborating closely with PMs, designers, and engineering leaders to shape product direction; setting a high technical bar by example; and clearly communicating trade-offs to engineers, product partners, and senior stakeholders.

Experience
- 10+ years of software engineering experience with significant hands-on coding
- Proven track record of shipping product-impacting work end-to-end
- Deep expertise in the mobile app ecosystem (iOS and/or Android) with strong fluency in Swift and/or Kotlin and related technologies such as offline sync, push notifications, authentication, persistence, networking, REST/GraphQL
- Demonstrated breadth working seriously in at least one of web frontend, backend services, data/infra, or platform tooling alongside mobile
- Strong product judgment with the ability to make and defend decisions about what not to build
- Comfortable troubleshooting production issues across stacks including crash analysis, latency tracing, and release-health debugging
- Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills, making those around you better

Qualifications
