About the Role
Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s busiest and most successful NHS trusts, providing a wide range of hospital and community services across south London and beyond. We are proud of our clinical excellence, research, and teaching, and are committed to delivering the best possible patient experience and safe, high-quality care.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Cryo-Storage Manager within the Assisted Conception Unit. This role requires an enthusiastic and hardworking individual who thrives in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment. The post holder will lead the Storage Administration Team, ensuring compliant, auditable storage records in line with the Human Fertilisation & Embryology Authority (HFEA) Code of Practice.

The role demands exceptional attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to problem-solve and redesign workflows. You will work closely with the Embryology Team, Quality Manager, Head of Service, Person Responsible, and Senior Management Team to maintain accurate and legally compliant storage documentation.

We offer a supportive, multidisciplinary team environment with opportunities for personal and professional development. This role provides a chance to make a direct positive impact on patient experience within the Trust.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Storage Administration Team, including recruitment, training, performance management, and development.
- Ensure full compliance with HFEA legislation, Trust policies, and governance related to storage of gametes, embryos, and ovarian tissue.
- Maintain audit-ready systems and accurate consent documentation.
- Oversee operational workflows, escalation pathways, and service resilience.
- Manage delegated budgets and authorised signatory responsibilities.
- Drive service improvement, policy development, digital innovation, and automation.
- Provide task-specific training and act as first point of contact for queries and escalations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
- Prepare for and support regulatory inspections and audits.
- Ensure accurate, traceable storage records and lead audits to improve data quality.
- Handle sensitive patient communications and escalated concerns.
- Contribute to operational and strategic decision-making through regular reporting.

About the Trust
Evelina London, part of Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, provides specialist women’s and children’s services. We serve local communities and specialist networks across south east England, offering integrated care from pre-conception through adulthood. We are committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion, supporting flexible working and staff development.

Requirements

Experience
- Significant experience in staff supervision and management, including recruitment, retention, appraisal, and first-line disciplinary processes.
- Proven track record in delivering accurate, high-volume administrative services in a regulated, legally sensitive, or compliance-driven environment.
- Experience managing operational objectives and service delivery.
- Desirable: Experience in consent-based administration, preparing for regulatory inspections (HFEA, CQC, ISO, MHRA), fertility or HFEA-regulated services, and developing digital tools or automated workflows.

About You
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to handle sensitive or complex conversations professionally.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret and operationalise policies and regulatory frameworks, including HFEA Code of Practice and consent law.
- Ability to manage workload independently, respond to changing priorities, and maintain accuracy under pressure.
- High digital literacy, including advanced use of Microsoft Office, databases, tracking systems, and digital workflow tools.
- Desirable: Financial management and analysis skills, knowledge of HFEA storage regulations and assisted reproduction governance.

Qualifications
- Essential: GCSE Maths and English.
- Educated to HNC/Equivalent Diploma level or equivalent experience.
- Track record of continuous professional and management development, including leadership, governance, information management, or service improvement training.
- Desirable: Degree-level qualification in management, health administration, business or related subject.
- IT qualification such as ECDL or Microsoft Office Specialist is advantageous.
