The Trust’s Centre for Automation is dedicated to transforming administrative and clinical pathways through automation to improve services. As an Automation Developer, you will play a key role in expanding the Trust’s automation capabilities, building on existing Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and low-code platform expertise such as Power Automate.
Your responsibilities will include designing, developing, and integrating automation solutions, providing specialist advice to stakeholders, and managing elements of the automation programme. You will deliver high-quality automation through the full development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, process mapping, coding, testing, deployment, and optimisation. Ensuring data integrity, security, and compliance with Trust policies will be essential.
The role is part of the Delivery team within the Centre for Innovation, Transformation, and Improvement (CITI), which fosters a culture of innovation and improvement across the Trust. CITI supports clinical innovators and services to translate ideas into practice, delivering improvements in patient care, research, and education.

Experience
- Specialist knowledge of IT systems management acquired through degree-level education or equivalent experience
- Experience working with automation technologies
- Knowledge of managing full product lifecycles including development, testing, and support
- Awareness of change management and risk governance
- Experience documenting solutions and system dependencies
- Proficient in standard IT systems (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Understanding of the NHS, service improvements, and project management

Qualifications
- Relevant degree or equivalent qualification or significant experience at degree level
- Blue Prism Cloud practitioner status or equivalent
Desirable
- Additional Blue Prism certifications or other RPA qualifications
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Proven experience with Blue Prism Cloud technology delivering complex healthcare automations within the NHS
- Expert knowledge of Blue Prism RPA, iOCR (ABBY & Decipher), Blue Prism Cloud Cognitive Tools (language translation, sentiment analysis, keyword classification, interact e-forms, chatbot, orchestrator)
- Experience developing solutions using Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate)
- NHS-specific IT system experience
- Experience facilitating change to improve services
- Working knowledge of hospital corporate and clinical areas
- Experience in system development and implementation projects
