About the Role
Exciting opportunities have arisen in the Mental Health Enablement service, which sits within the Mental Health Adults Social Care Access Team in the London Borough of Newham (LBN). We are looking to hire a Mental Health Support Worker on a fixed term contract for 12 months. The candidate must have a minimum of two years’ experience in working with vulnerable people, preferably those with enduring mental health problems. We seek individuals who embrace change and are committed to helping us shape our vision for Adult Mental Health Services, focusing on recovery-based, strength-based approaches that are personalized and outcome-focused, allowing our residents improved choice, greater control, and maximized independence.

The Mental Health Enablement service is a preventative and recovery-based service that helps develop and implement goals while promoting independence for up to six months. It provides time-specific interventions, offering support to individuals to meet their goals and objectives. Supporting people using a strength-based approach enhances a person’s independence and promotes well-being.

There is a strong commitment to supporting professional development to improve services and outcomes for vulnerable people. As a Support Worker, you will be given every support and opportunity to make a difference.

Requirements

Experience
A minimum of two years’ experience working with vulnerable people, preferably those with enduring mental health problems.

About You
We are looking for a passionate and dedicated team member who is happy to work autonomously in a busy and fast-paced team and has the ability to effectively prioritize. Strong assessment skills are essential, always using a person-centred and strengths-based approach with the ability to think creatively. An understanding of the social determinants of mental health issues is key, along with the complexities that may accompany them, including drug and alcohol issues, forensic issues, anti-social behavior, and housing issues. We seek a support worker with the ability to engage the most vulnerable and hard-to-serve residents within one of the most diverse and disadvantaged boroughs in London.
