We are now recruiting a System Safety Design Engineer to join the HS2 Track infrastructure project at the initial design phase, running concurrently with the peak completion of main works contracts. The team operates under a collaborative Rail Systems Alliance structure to manage interfaces and resolve program conflicts, working together on design, access, resources, and logistics to achieve shared goals for cost and schedule.

The System Safety Design Engineer will work with Designers, Client, and others to ensure system safety compliance, risk analysis and evaluation, preparation of safety products, under the direction and control of the Lead Systems Safety Engineer. You will actively support the Employer’s system safety team and ensure compliance with the Employer’s Phase 1/2a Railway Systems Safety Management Plan.

Experience
Experience in a safety engineering role, preferably within the rail industry.

- Strong understanding of engineering principles, safety standards, and hazard analysis techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to identify hazards, assess risks, and develop effective solutions.
- Clear and concise communication skills to convey complex safety information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and manage stakeholder expectations.

Qualifications
A degree in engineering or a related field is required. Further qualifications in safety engineering are considered advantageous.
