About the Role
Guy’s and St Thomas’ is one of the UK’s busiest and most successful NHS foundation trusts, providing a wide range of hospital and community services across south London and specialist care nationally. Evelina London Children’s Hospital cares for local children in Lambeth and Southwark and offers specialist services across south east England including cardiac, renal and critical care. The hospital is part of a large directorate delivering extensive paediatric care, research and community nursing services.

The Team Leader will lead a team of patient access coordinators to deliver a high quality administrative support service within Evelina Outpatients. This role involves managing day-to-day team operations, supporting ongoing projects, and ensuring effective internal and external communication. The post holder will work closely with a multidisciplinary team in a busy office environment, handling complex and sensitive issues requiring sound judgement and minimal supervision.

Key responsibilities include leading and motivating the team, organising and administering meetings, managing staff performance, supporting project implementation, handling complex enquiries, maintaining accurate records of leave and sickness, and ensuring compliance with Trust policies and procedures. The role also involves maintaining effective information management systems and upholding confidentiality and data protection standards.

Requirements

Experience
- Extensive business administration experience demonstrating understanding of key admin support functions
- Experience working in a customer service setting

About you
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both face-to-face, on the telephone and in writing
- Ability to plan, organise and prioritise workload for self and junior staff to meet deadlines
- Motivated to support and develop staff to deliver high standards of patient care
- Confident decision maker able to handle competing priorities
- Ability to work methodically in a busy environment and maintain attention to detail
- Able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately
- Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships at all levels

Qualifications
- Good general education including English and Maths to GCSE standard or equivalent
- Educated to diploma level or NVQ 3, City and Guilds certificate level in business administration or equivalent
- Evidence of formal further training through short courses and significant healthcare administration experience
- Desirable: Understanding of Trust hospital and community systems (e.g. EPIC, ERS, Carenotes)
- Proficient in IT systems including Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel with advanced keyboard skills
