About the Role
Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s busiest and most successful NHS trusts, providing a wide range of hospital and community services across south London and specialist care for patients from further afield. The Trust includes five renowned hospitals and community services, delivering clinical excellence, research, and innovation. The Theatre Administrator plays a vital role in maintaining control systems for admission, discharge, and transfer of critical care patients within the theatre complex and associated wards or clinics.
The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for theatre staff and visitors, ensuring smooth theatre operations and providing high-quality administrative support. Duties include managing telephone enquiries courteously, assisting with patient and family reception under nurse supervision, maintaining accurate patient records using the EPIC system, and supporting the multi-disciplinary theatre team. The role requires flexibility to provide cover in wards or clinics as needed and involves supervising less experienced administrative staff where appropriate.
The Theatre Administrator will contribute to maintaining a safe, organized, and welcoming theatre reception area, managing supplies and equipment efficiently, and adhering to all Trust policies including confidentiality and data protection. This position supports indirect patient care under the guidance of registered nurses and plays a key part in delivering a quality service within the specialty.
