About the Role
Goldman Sachs Transaction Banking (TxB) aims to build a modern, digital-first transaction banking solution that combines the strength and expertise of a 150-year-old firm with the agility of a tech start-up. Our goal is to deliver a best-in-class digital banking experience that empowers clients with a clear, connected view of their business. We make payments simple, secure, and seamless—whether local or global—making cross-border transactions as effortless as local payments.
As part of TxB’s global first line of defense risk team, you will support TxB’s comprehensive risk management program with a focus on financial crime and compliance-related risks. You will work closely with senior members of the 1LoD financial crime risk team to provide advisory support on client selection, risk assessment, and governance matters. This role involves assessing complex client financial crime risk profiles through targeted due diligence of clients’ financial crime compliance control frameworks and translating findings into clear risk-based recommendations for business and governance stakeholders.
This is not a routine EDD/KYC processing role; it requires sound judgement, the ability to challenge constructively, and to advise on nuanced financial crime risk considerations within a commercial banking context. We seek an intellectually ambitious individual with excellent communication skills who takes initiative, enjoys collaboration in a dynamic environment, and consistently delivers high-quality, timely outputs with ownership and agency.
Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree plus 2+ years of professional experience applying financial crime risk judgement in advisory, governance, client risk, or compliance roles
- Ability to assess complex fact patterns and communicate clear recommendations
- Experience creating professional presentations and communications including reports, policies, process flows, governance documents, and committee materials
- Strong presentation, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable and adaptable in a dynamic, multi-faceted work environment
- Ability to balance objective and subjective viewpoints when assessing complex risks
- Strong prioritization skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Team oriented, energetic, self-directed, and self-motivated
- Professional fluency in English
About You
You are intellectually curious, proactive, and collaborative. You thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment and are confident in providing advisory input on complex financial crime risk matters. You demonstrate strong judgement, communicate clearly, and take ownership of your work while building trusted relationships across teams and stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Preferred: 3+ years in risk management, financial crime advisory, client risk advisory, regulatory advisory, or first/second line risk advisory roles
- Preferred: J.D. or master’s degree in a related field
- Experience drafting financial crime risk assessments, advisory memoranda, governance papers, or client risk recommendations for senior stakeholders
- Prior Transaction Banking or Commercial Banking experience
- Experience with payments and payment rails
- Experience conducting due diligence of correspondent banking relationships
- Client-facing experience in a similar role
