About the Role
Champion the education of children in care, helping them build brighter futures. As a Virtual School Advisory Teacher, you will use your teaching experience to make a lasting difference by working directly with children in care, alongside schools, carers and social workers, ensuring each young person receives the support they need to thrive in education wherever they are placed.

This Bi-Borough role involves taking responsibility for a group of children in care, acting as their advocate in all educational matters. You will review Personal Education Plans (PEPs), monitor progress, and ensure pupil premium funding is effectively used to make a real difference.

You will travel to meet young people wherever they are placed, providing direct support through mentoring, tuition and observation. Building close working relationships with Designated Teachers and school leaders, you will offer guidance, challenge practice when necessary, and always keep the child’s needs at the centre.

Tracking data carefully to identify where extra support is needed, you will help design effective interventions. Additionally, you will play a key role in training school staff, foster carers and social workers to help them understand the needs of young people in care so they feel safe, supported and able to learn.

Our Virtual School is rated Outstanding by Ofsted, and you will be part of a collaborative, supportive team committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of care-experienced young people. This role offers real opportunities for career growth within a high-performing and respected service, where you will see the impact of your work in the progress and trust of the young people you support.
