About the Role
This is not a live vacancy but an invitation to join Framestore's London studio talent pool. Framestore is a world-renowned visual effects studio behind some of the most ambitious cinematic storytelling, including Guardians of the Galaxy, How To Train Your Dragon, Paddington, Harry Potter, Project Hail Mary, and Wicked. The studio is pioneering the next chapter of visual development by integrating AI as a creative amplifier rather than a shortcut. Using proprietary tools such as Futon, a generative AI pipeline integration, artists can shape, iterate, and realize complex visuals at unprecedented pace and scale.
Framestore is seeking artists who are comfortable working at the frontier of AI-assisted visual development. Whether you are a concept artist with custom ComfyUI workflows, a matte painter using AI to explore compositions, or an artist whose practice evolves beyond traditional roles, Framestore wants to see your work. This opportunity is about building relationships with AI-native creatives ahead of future roles becoming available.
Experience
- Proven experience using generative AI tools as a core part of your creative practice, not just as a finishing step.
- Experience building workflows, iterating on models, or generating imagery that advances visual storytelling.
- Familiarity with tools such as Futon, ComfyUI, Nuke, Blender, Unreal/Realtime engines, or interest in frontier techniques like Gaussian Splatting is a strong advantage.
About you
- Strong visual foundations with command of frame, composition, light, and colour that remain intentional and refined regardless of tools.
- Curiosity about production pipelines and how concept work informs downstream VFX processes.
- Interest in how visual development images transition into 3D pipelines and influence lighting and rendering decisions.
- Open to artists at all career stages with a portfolio that demonstrates problem-solving, process work, personal projects, and experimental output.
Qualifications
- No formal qualifications required; the focus is on your portfolio and creative approach.
- Commitment to inclusivity and accessibility; Framestore's London studio is fully accessible with step-free entry, accessible toilets, and quiet spaces.
- Willingness to engage in an ongoing application process with manual review and no AI screening.
