£79,005 - £88,149 per annum, negotiable depending on experience, plus a Market Supplement of £10,000

About the Role
As Assistant Head and Enforcement Manager, you will provide effective leadership to a team of specialists managing a diverse caseload covering a full range of developments and complex schemes. You will deliver high-level professional and technical advice to colleagues, partner agencies, and managers, acting as a key source of guidance and expertise.

Your responsibilities include managing specialist assessments and activities to ensure the Building Control function operates effectively across the Council’s jurisdiction. This involves ensuring compliance with health, safety, sustainability, energy, conservation, accessibility, and design standards.

You will routinely review training, competency, and licensing to maintain team qualifications, conduct technical audits and assessments with surveyors, and collaborate with external educational and government organisations to advance building control training. Most importantly, you will be a motivating, empathetic, and supportive leader, providing expert guidance to protect communities and residents across Westminster.

Requirements

Experience
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in building control or comparable industry experience at a senior level. Proven track record of presenting CPD and training, managing and mentoring staff and technical specialists, and liaising with a wide range of stakeholders, customers, and clients.

Qualifications
