About the Role
FTSE Russell is seeking an experienced, analytical and controls-focused Assistant Manager to support the design, implementation, operation and continuous improvement of the first-line Controls Framework and Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) programme across the global business. This role sits within the FTSE Russell Regulatory, Risk & Controls function and acts as a key subject matter specialist for control management, control quality, control lifecycle discipline and RCSA execution. You will help ensure controls are clearly defined, consistently documented, appropriately owned, linked to relevant risks and processes, and capable of supporting effective risk management, assurance, issue management and regulatory scrutiny.
Working closely with Product, Operations, Engineering, Corporate Functions, Risk & Control colleagues, control owners, process owners and governance stakeholders, you will support controls rationalisation, process-risk-control mapping, RCSA workshops, quality assurance reviews, control framework documentation and management information. The role requires independence, strong analytical skills, and the ability to facilitate cross-functional discussions, identify themes and control gaps, and translate findings into clear recommendations and improvement actions.

Key Responsibilities Include:
- Support implementation, operation and enhancement of the Controls Framework
- Assist with development and maintenance of control standards, methodologies and guidance
- Promote consistent control documentation and ownership
- Support governance activities related to control lifecycle and evidence standards
- Conduct controls inventory reviews and rationalisation
- Support process, risk and control mapping
- Coordinate RCSA activities and quality reviews
- Produce management information and governance reporting
- Build effective stakeholder relationships and provide advisory support
- Identify and support continuous improvement opportunities in controls and risk culture
Experience
- Experience in operational risk, controls, audit, governance, compliance or assurance within a regulated environment
- Strong understanding of risk and control frameworks including control design, ownership, evidence, testing and lifecycle management
- Experience conducting control reviews, risk assessments, assurance or quality assurance reviews
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to interpret complex information
- Experience facilitating workshops, working groups or stakeholder review sessions
- Proven stakeholder management and communication skills
- Experience producing management information, dashboards or governance reporting
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and maintain delivery discipline in complex environments

Qualifications
- Desirable: Experience with RCSA methodologies and GRC platforms such as MetricStream
- Understanding of process mapping, risk taxonomy and control rationalisation
- Experience within regulated financial services, market infrastructure or benchmark administration
- Familiarity with issue management, audit findings and remediation tracking
- Professional qualification or progress towards qualification in risk management, audit, governance or compliance is advantageous
