About the Role
Join Southwark Council as a CCTV Operator and be at the forefront of safety and security in a vibrant borough. You will work in a bespoke CCTV control room as part of a proactive team monitoring a bustling Town Centre, extensive Housing Estates, and open spaces. Using advanced technology, you will identify suspicious behaviour, anti-social behaviour, criminal activity, and environmental crime, responding swiftly and effectively. Collaborating with key partners, you will help improve the local environment and enhance the safety of Southwark’s residents, workers, and visitors. This role offers a meaningful opportunity to make a real difference daily, contributing to a safer and more attractive borough. You will also maintain detailed incident reports and patrol logs to share with relevant partners, requiring strong computer literacy.

Experience
Familiarity with the principles of GDPR, Human Rights Act, RIPA, Freedom of Information Act, and Common Laws governing public sector CCTV use is essential. Experience using radio communications equipment is required.

About you
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team are vital. Due to the nature of the role, candidates must disclose all convictions as per the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975. Successful applicants will be required to obtain security clearance including a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and a Counter Terrorism Check (CTC). Maintaining this clearance is mandatory for continued employment in the CCTV control room.

Qualifications
Security clearance from DBS and CTC is required prior to contract issue. Other formal qualifications are not specified, but relevant knowledge and skills are essential.
