About the Role
Financial Times is a globally recognised news organisation known for its authority, integrity and accuracy. MandateWire, part of FT Specialist, delivers exclusive intelligence on the investment activities of asset owners worldwide. This London-based role focuses on Central European asset owners, particularly German-speaking pension schemes, insurance companies, charities, family offices and wealth management organisations. You will build strong relationships with senior industry contacts, uncover exclusive stories, and contribute written and multimedia journalism to MandateWire’s coverage.
Key responsibilities include building and maintaining relationships with senior representatives across the DACH region and Central Europe through interviews, virtual meetings and industry events; researching and writing original news stories on investment mandate searches, asset manager appointments, strategic asset allocation changes and governance developments; conducting independent research using public sources; maintaining MandateWire’s proprietary database with accurate market intelligence; generating exclusive mandate opportunity stories; contributing feature articles, market analysis and trend pieces; creating engaging multimedia content such as video interviews and podcasts; representing MandateWire at industry conferences and events; and collaborating with the European editorial team to support comprehensive market coverage.

Experience
Fluency in German with professional speaking, reading and translation skills. Strong communication and interviewing skills with confidence to build relationships with senior industry contacts. Excellent written English with the ability to produce clear, accurate and engaging content. Strong research and analytical skills to identify newsworthy developments from complex information. Strong organisation and prioritisation skills to manage competing deadlines. A curious, proactive approach with excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
About you
Proactive and inquisitive journalist or business reporter with an interest or background in institutional investment, pensions, asset management or financial markets. Comfortable producing multimedia content and contributing to webinars, panels or live events. Fluency in another European language is desirable.
Qualifications
Relevant journalism or business reporting experience is preferred but not mandatory. A commitment to impartial and high-quality journalism aligned with the Financial Times’ standards.
