About the Role
If you are considering your next professional opportunity as a Social Worker and are looking for an ambitious and highly motivated employer continuously striving for better services for children and young people, Enfield is your next stop. Enfield is one of approximately 27 local authorities implementing the Family Safeguarding model alongside the Family First Reforms. Family Safeguarding is a whole family approach that supports parents to create sustained change for themselves and their families. Motivational Interviewing is used to increase engagement and support change, empowering parents to identify and resolve difficulties and make sustained changes for themselves and their children.
We are proud of our Outstanding Service. Ofsted has stated: “Children who are in care in Enfield receive outstanding care and support from social workers and carers who know them very well. Experienced and highly skilled social workers understand children’s needs, wishes and feelings very well. Manageable caseloads allow workers to visit children very frequently, in line with their needs. Workers undertake thoughtful, sensitive direct work and life-story work to help children make sense of their life stories, process any trauma they may have experienced and understand more about their unique identities.”
As a member of our Children in Care Teams, you will support children living with relatives, friends, foster families, prospective adopters, or older children living in children’s homes and semi-independent units. You will build sustainable relationships and plan for their permanence, ensuring their safety and supporting their steps towards independence. Through regular visits and direct work, you will nurture meaningful relationships, understand and interpret their wishes, and champion their potential. You will also prepare reports and undertake direct work with families to progress plans for children in care.
Family Safeguarding Supervision provides reflective discussions for all staff working with families, facilitating information sharing and joined-up support. It strengthens the ability to predict and prevent harm and enables shared decision making and ownership of better outcomes for children and families.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a service working collaboratively with families to achieve positive outcomes for children and young people. We are in an exciting period of transformation with new integrated family help teams recently launched and a developing multi-agency child protection team (MACPT) to go live later this year.
Our leadership culture is grounded in openness, learning, and shared responsibility, with a commitment to staff wellbeing, professional development, and best practice. You will join a service with high standards that values professional curiosity, collective accountability, and innovation, creating the conditions for everyone to do their best work to achieve positive outcomes for children and families.
Experience
Experience working with children in care or vulnerable children and families is desirable. Familiarity with the Family Safeguarding model and Motivational Interviewing is advantageous but not essential as training will be provided.
About you
You will be ambitious, motivated, and committed to delivering high-quality social work. You should have strong interpersonal skills to build sustainable relationships with children, young people, and families. You will be reflective, open to learning, and able to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people is essential.
Qualifications
You must hold a recognized social work qualification and be registered with the relevant professional body. Ongoing professional development and adherence to best practice standards are expected.
