About the Role
The Commercial Analyst - Acquisitions will support the commercial evaluation and implementation of new journal and book acquisitions. You will help identify opportunities for revenue growth for recent acquisitions and assist in coordinating sales enablement activities to ensure customers understand the value proposition of new journals and books, thereby increasing investment. The role involves commercial analysis and cross-functional collaboration with teams including retention, editorial, and sales.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the Commercial Acquisitions Manager by gathering and organising market data to evaluate potential acquisitions
- Analysing commercial potential of acquisition targets and compiling competitive intelligence and market research
- Collecting and organising performance data for recently acquired journals and books, maintaining tracking spreadsheets and dashboards
- Flagging underperforming acquisitions for further review
- Assisting in gathering product information and coordinating sales materials development
- Supporting communication between commercial, editorial, and sales teams
- Attending cross-functional meetings and organizing acquisition review sessions

Experience
- Strong data fluency with accuracy across multiple platforms such as SAP and Excel
- Strong analytical capabilities with ability to interpret complex data and generate actionable insights
- Excellent verbal communication skills focused on clear storytelling and logical presentation
- Highly organised with strong time management and prioritisation skills under pressure
- Skilled at building cross-functional relationships
- Preferred: Experience in commercial analysis, business development or sales operations/enablement
- Preferred: Knowledge of subscription and open access business models
