About the Role
The Ministry of Justice Commercial directorate manages one of the largest and most complex spending profiles in central government, coordinating procurement and contract management across the MoJ, its agencies and non-departmental public bodies. The Commercial Operating Centre supports these teams by streamlining operations, providing expert guidance, and enabling commercial and contract managers to focus on their core responsibilities.
The Communications and Engagement Manager will lead and deliver effective internal communications and engagement activities across the directorate. Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining inclusive, informative communications through multiple channels, managing a forward communications plan, and horizon scanning for upcoming announcements and events. The role involves planning and hosting quarterly all-staff virtual Town Hall events, producing monthly team briefings, managing content on the Commercial SharePoint Hub, and providing support to content publishers.
Additional duties include reviewing communication methods and technology to enhance impact and efficiency, leading the annual awards programme to celebrate employee achievements, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and knowledge sharing. The role requires regular analysis of feedback and performance data to evaluate communication effectiveness and ensuring all content complies with government accessibility standards.
Experience
- Strong copywriting and proofreading skills with the ability to produce clear, engaging content across multiple platforms and formats.
- Experience developing high-quality communications products such as event management, newsletters, articles, presentations, briefing papers, and other engagement materials.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels and influence effectively at a senior level.
- Ability to simplify complex programmes, projects, and strategies into clear, meaningful messaging that engages employees and drives behavioural change.
- Experience working calmly and efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment to meet tight deadlines.
- Experience of SharePoint.
